Google is sinds 2 september 2008 met hun eigen opensource (en daardoor dus gratis) webbrowser op de proppen gekomen. Deze gaat door onder de naam Google Chrome. Deze browser maakt gebruik van de op KHTML gebaseerde WebKit-rendering engine, en is daardoor razend snel, naar zeggen van Google zelfs sneller dan Internet Explorer en Firefox. Google Chrome is gebaseerd op Chromium, het opensource project van Google. Google deed recentelijk versie 2.0.157 de deur uit.
