ESET NOD32 & Smart Security 5.0.93.7
ESET heeft zojuist de finalversie van zowel NOD32 als Smart Security 5 de deur uitgedaan. Het is alweer twee jaar sinds de laatste grote versie van ESET's vlaggenschipproducten, versie 4. Nieuw in versie 5 is dat de firewall intelligenter is gemaakt, zodat deze vaker automatische beslissingen neemt, maakt de virusscanner gebruik van de cloud zodat updates bijna direct doorgevoerd kunnen worden en is in de Smart Security-suite ouderlijk toezicht toegevoegd, zodat ouders ongewenste websites kunnen blokkeren in twintig voorgedefinieerde categorieën. Ten slotte is de HIPS verbeterd en is er een gamemodus. NOD32 staat bekend om zijn minimale impact op het systeem en om de grote hoeveelheid onbekende virussen die het programma vangt. Gebruikers met een geldige licentie van NOD32 of Smart Security kunnen gratis upgraden naar deze versie. Aanbevolen wordt om eerst de oude versie te verwijderen en daarna deze te installeren, hoewel dat niet per se nodig is.
